What Are The Different Types Of Carpet Fibers?

Over the recent years, hardwood has become the top-most flooring choice opted by the majority of people. However, carpet flooring is also an ideal way as it offers a lot of benefits as well. Moreover, it adds a soft, warm, and cosy feeling to your home. Do you want to purchase a beautiful carpet, but aren’t sure which type suits your interior the most? If so, then have a look at the following guide;

  1. Nylon

The majority of carpets used in residential places are made of nylon. It is the most popular choice because of so many reasons. Being highly durable, nylon carpets can last up to 10 to 15 years if taken care of properly. This fibre costs more than other synthetic carpets which is why it functions better against stains, abrasion, and dust. Nylon is available in so many colours and the staff is highly comfortable and soft. The only downside of having these carpets is that they can produce static energy. Otherwise, it’s a good choice to opt for.

  1. Triexta

After nylon, another carpet fabric that is gaining popularity over the last few years is Triexta. Made from synthetic fibres, these carpets are highly durable and work best against resisting stains. Moreover, the fabric can bear high foot traffic, while maintaining its appearance. But unfortunately, it is expensive than all synthetic carpets.

  1. Wool

Another common carpet fabric is wool, though unfortunately, it doesn’t come at a premium. This natural fibre is highly beneficial especially for those who are prone to allergies because they are manufactured without additives or chemicals. Being natural, wool doesn’t work best against mould and mildew.  Many people do not prefer buying wool carpets because they are quite expensive. But if you are considering opting for that, make sure your carpet has made of the highest grade of wool otherwise t tends to be prone to stains.

  1. Olefin

Olefin is actually a polypropylene compound but it is referred to as polypropylene. It is more expensive than wool and is used as its synthetic substitute because the fibres are just similar to natural wool. Olefin carpets are more suitable for commercial properties because they can bear high foot traffic. The only downside of this fabric is that it is prone to soiling.

  1. Polyester

If you are looking for a budget-friendly synthetic carpet fabric, then go for polyester. The fabric can beautifully retain bright colours. It works best against resisting stains, moisture, mould, and mildew. Moreover, it is the easiest fabric to clean. The only downside of these carpets is that they can flatten easily with high-foot traffic or if you place them underneath your furniture. Once flatten, these carpets require proper vacuuming and brushing. So, you can opt for polyester for low foot traffic areas.

Flooring to any home can enhance its aesthetic appeal especially when it is carpet flooring. But it is very important to consider which carpet fabric would be the best. It mainly depends upon what your room is used for. For example, triexta work best for a playroom or office room whereas a luxurious wool carpet would be an ideal way to please your guests. We hope you have now enough knowledge regarding different types of carpet fibres.
